HOW PRO WORKS

CANBUS + OBD2

GHOST GAUGE PRO combines direct CAN-bus data with OBD2, bringing more of your car’s information onto your gauges. CAN supplies the main driving data, while OBD adds supported diagnostic readings. Both connections work together, so you can keep the Driver View running on one display while showing other parameters on the remaining gauges. When OBD connects, its available screens are added without restarting the system.

Connection

Connecting PRO builds on your existing Kit 3 installation. Keep the original gauge power and display-link wiring, then add a compatible 3.3V CAN transceiver to N1 or N2. The module connects to the vehicle’s CAN-H and CAN-L wires using the vehicle-specific connection points shown in the installation manual. Install the matching PRO software on each gauge using the Windows or Mac flashing tools. For additional OBD features, plug a supported Bluetooth OBD adapter into the car’s diagnostic socket. Receiver gauges obtain their data through the existing gauge links.

Compatibility

Direct CAN support currently focuses on supported BMW configurations using the Siemens MS43 ECU, with the E46 as the current reference platform. Check compatibility before purchasing: having an MS43 ECU alone does not guarantee that every vehicle supplies every feature. Support for additional ECUs and vehicles is planned for future releases, with compatibility added as new profiles are developed and tested.

Built For Older Vehicles

PRO is particularly useful on supported older vehicles where the OBD connection provides fewer readings or updates slowly when several parameters are being requested. Direct CAN access brings responsive RPM data, steering angle, pedal inputs, fuel information and other supported vehicle signals to the displays. It also enables cruise-button navigation, automatic night mode and the combined 2.1-inch Driver View. The cruise buttons control the gauges only while cruise control is switched off; gauge navigation stops when the dashboard cruise indicator comes on.

Why You Might Not Need Pro..

For many newer cars, the standard V1 OBD setup may already be the better fit. Newer vehicles generally offer more diagnostic readings and faster OBD updates, so a compatible car and a good adapter can provide smooth, responsive gauges without additional CAN wiring. Depending on what the vehicle and gauge software support, OBD may offer a wider selection of readings than the current PRO CAN profile. It can feel similarly responsive in everyday use, but identical update speeds are not guaranteed: performance depends on the vehicle, adapter and number of readings being monitored. Choose PRO for its supported vehicle-specific features; choose V1 OBD when it already provides the information and responsiveness you need
